So as I mentioned in my last blog I am going to talk about my first gigs/experience with the Nocturn and how it has assimilated into my live rig. I got the Nocturn sent to me a while back from the top secret Novation controller laboratory. My initial response was that I was not surprised at how good the unit felt and how good the build quality seemed as I have been used to that with Novation controllers for a long time. I had been using a Remote 37SL since their introduction as my main controller for Ableton in my live work with Howard Jones.

As this is my first time blogging in I thought I would introduce myself and give you a potted lowdown on my background. My name is Robbie Bronnimann. I am a writer/producer/remixer and live performer. I come from a classical music background with all the usual grades in piano and trumpet, with aspirations of a life as a concert pianist. However, when I first saw a synth those dreams went down the plug hole rapidly much to my mothers disgust. Since those heady days of early synth, drum machine & sequencer exploration I have carved a career producing & writing for artists including The Sugababes , Howard Jones and Andy Hunter. Remixing for the likes of Chicane, Ferry Corsten, Art Of Trance, Mogwai, Young Punx & released my own artist albums & 12″ under the names dba and tektonik. Most recently, after producing & co-writing ‘up & coming’ album Colour for Nettwerk artist Andy Hunter, we jointly jumped from the proverbial frying pan into the fire by taking on scoring the full score for & soon to be released big US film called Expelled which was literally a baptism of fire in the secret art of music to film. (more…)
